The Republican Party as a whole, stands for morals, integrity and patriotism. The Alaska Republican Party embodies those values and more. They basically mirror a lot of the qualities that the party on a National level accepts. However, the state group has applied some core beliefs that they wish each resident in the state of Alaska would adhere to.

Family

The Party believes strongly in family. They believe that having a family embodies the center of society. According to the Alaska Republican Party, their definition of a family is people that reside together. They should be connected by blood, marriage or adoption. Marriage is formed between and male and female. They don’t accept the concept of marriage as two men or two women.

The Alaska Republican Party believes that it should be the parent’s responsibility to take care of their children. The parents should be able to discipline them when they need to. They should also be able to authorize when their children need medical care and related issues.

The Party does believe in the full development human life. Therefore, the method of destroying human embryos for stem cell research in unacceptable to them. The Alaska Republican Party opposes human cloning of any kind, no matter what the reason is.

National Defense

As the majority of the Republican Party of the United States, the state of Alaska is a strong supporter of the military. The Alaska Republican Party supports the current war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Party supports different areas of the military, which include:

Navy
Air Force
Marines
Reserves
National Guard
Alaska State Defense Force

There are many military facilities here that are strategically placed throughout the state. The training at these facilities is endless.

The Party is in support have the military having modernized weapons and equipment to use in the war. They prefer that research and development is conducted in the United States.
They also believe that their military personnel should earn the best salaries possible. Having the best salaries is one component that is needed in order to retain qualified people. It’s also important for the Government to keep their word to take care of their military personnel. That includes veterans, active duty members and their families.

Constitutional Rights

The Alaska Republican Party believes that every person should have the right to life, especially newborns. They do not encourage or believe in abortions of any kind. They firmly believe that a life comes from God and that no one has the right to take it away, be it abortion or otherwise.

They believe in the right for all law abiding citizens to legally bear arms for protection. They are against any governmental entity that tries to encroach upon individual rights to do so, if they are a law abiding citizen.

The group believes in state residents having access to natural resources and development within the state of Alaska. They want all state residents to benefit from whatever is available in Alaska.

The Alaska Republican Party stands firm in its goals and objectives of what they stand for. They believe they are the group that is involved in the morals and principles based on the United States. They believe in liberty and freedom for all residents of Alaska and feel they are the best party to represent that.

As far as jobs and the economy go, the group is firmly behind the free enterprise system.
This consists of:
Being able to choose businesses freely without interference from others
A person’s right to private property
Being able to profit, as long as it’s legal
Competition of businesses
Consumer sovereignty (determine whether or not a business will stay in business by patronizing them)
The free enterprise system is the way of economic growth.

In addition to that, the Alaska Republican Party is big on international trade. International Trade happens to be an economic lifeline for the state. In fact, the Party encourages trade between Alaska and foreign countries. They also are in favor of free trade zones in their state.

They are in favor of hunting and fishing in Alaska. Because of that, they agree that there should be access to the fisheries of the state. Salmon or other fish that is farmed is not acceptable. Any fish that is of a foreign nature is not acceptable, either.

For the state of Alaska, the Alaska Republican Party is in favor of economic investment within their state. They support laws that include stability, development of resources that will stay in the state, and not to overtax state residents.

The Alaska Republican Party believes in supporting and saying the Pledge of Allegiance on a daily basis. They also believe in honoring the American and home state flags. Patriotism is very important, especially in the state school system.

The Party believes that parents should have a choice when it comes to where they want to send their children. Whether it is public, private, charter or home-schooling, the parents should be able to make that choice. In addition to chat, they should be able to use tuition tax credits and/or vouchers to determine what type of education they want.

They also believe that if a child is being taught sex education related information, that there should be parental consent. If consent is given, the information dispensed should be based on abstinence. The group is not interested in having a lot of teenage pregnancies in their state. As far as homosexuality goes, that is a non-issue with them. They believe it should not be taught as an acceptable way to live.

As far as public education is concerned, local control should be used exclusively. The standards for students should be of a high caliber. The Party also believes in standardized testing for each student in public schools. They are however, against any federal testing programs.

As with the National Republican Party, the Alaska Republican Party is steadfast on morals, high caliber and integrity. They also want to maintain excellent stewardship in their state.
